The residential development of a city block on Chicago’s north side involved the renovation and addition to an existing industrial structure. The existing two story building was renovated and enlarged to include three new ‘Penthouse’ floors. North Beach Lofts provides 43 loft dwellings that range between 700 and 3,500 sf.

The remodeling of the original building was a combination of restoration and new construction. The lower two floors of the building’s exterior were sympathetically restored, maintaining the detail and articulation of the original design. The three newly constructed ‘Penthouse’ floors were set back from the original structure incorporating the rhythm and detail of the existing building.
